ABUSE PREVENTION

Below are a few of the organizations I’ve worked with that are committed to ending abuse.

Family Violence Prevention Fund – for more than two decades, the FVPF has worked to end violence against women and children around the world. Instrumental in developing the landmark Violence Against Women Act passed by Congress in 1994, the FVPF continues to break new ground by reaching new audiences including men and youth, promoting leadership within communities to ensure that violence prevention efforts become self-sustaining, and transforming the way health care providers, police, judges, employers and others address violence.

Generation Five’s mission is to end sexual abuse within five generations.  Through survivor leadership, community organizing and public action, Generation Five works to interrupt and mend the intergenerational impact of child sexual abuse on individuals, families and communities.

Jewish Women International is dedicated to ensuring that every woman and girl is safe, in her home and in her relationships. JWI is recognized as a leading Jewish organization committed to ending the cycle of family violence and to promoting safe homes, strong women and healthy relationships.

Strengthen Our Sisters,  the nonprofit organization founded by my mother in the 1970s, shelters abused women and children in New Jersey.  At sixty-four years of age she is still working around-the-clock to empower and support women and help break the cycle of violence.
